BARBARA_MCMILLAN_ARTIST_CORNWALL _Y2C5913 Ben McMillan.jpg

Barbara trained at the Bath Academy of Art at Corsham. Her works have been exhibited in galleries throughout the UK, and found their way across the world, from New Zealand to South Africa, and from Singapore to the Scottish Highlands.

Barbara thrives on variety, and the pleasure of following her instincts and allowing her art to evolve. With some works she explores a love of nature and the Cornish landscape, from wild days up on the moors to the rugged coastline around Fowey and St Austell Bay. And with others, scenes in her Lostwithiel garden, inspired by seasonal flowers.

Her flamboyant floral work also draws on travels in Mexico, Guatemala and Singapore, while landscapes and seascapes are sketched ‘en plieu air’ and worked up in the studio.

Barbara is also passionate about figurative painting. She is intrigued by the interplay between observational art, in the studio or in real world settings, like travels on the train, and the role of new technology and the ever present phone.
